Pick Up and Return
Pick Up
We provide delivery and pickup to Kona Airport and anywhere in the Kona area, so you can skip the long lines and overpriced, cookie-cutter rental cars.
Prefer a contactless experience? We’ve got you covered — we’ll send you a pin with the exact location of your vehicle for a smooth, self-service pickup.
Every vehicle is thoroughly sanitized and goes through a detailed multipoint inspection between trips, ensuring your ride is clean, safe, and professionally maintained.

Return
Fuel Up: Please return the Vehicle with a full tank of gas.
Double-Check Your Belongings.
Park & Notify: Park the Vehicle at the location we agreed on, then text us the exact spot you left it.
If a Car Rental Big Island team member is not present when you return the vehicle:
Please take eight photos for documentation:
Front, Back, Driver side, Passenger side, Roof, Front seats (interior), Back seats (interior), Rear area with the tailgate open.
Email or text these photos to Us to confirm the vehicle’s condition.
Then head to the airport with a heart full of memories and stories to tell — your friends and family will wish they’d come with you!
Late Return Policy
If the vehicle is not returned at the agreed date, time, and location, any discounted or special rates will be voided and standard daily rates + late fees will apply.
We ask that you contact us immediately if there are any delays or issues with your return.
Please note: Our rentals are often booked back-to-back, so we are rarely able to accommodate last-minute extensions, location changes, or late drop-offs. We’ll always do our best to help — but we will never delay a new guest’s reservation for a late return.
Non-Return Policy
If you fail to return the vehicle as agreed and do not respond via email, phone, or text, the vehicle will be reported as stolen, and we will locate and retrieve it immediately.
Terms and Conditions
Payment
You can book directly through our website using any major credit card.
If you’re using an international credit card, you may need to contact your bank or card provider in advance to approve the charge.
Reservation, Refunds & Changes
All prices are final once booked — we do not apply additional discounts after a reservation is confirmed.
We require at least 3 days’ notice to cancel for a refund.
Cancellation fee: $100
Rebooking fee for shortening your trip: $50
Cancellations made at least 3 days in advance will be refunded minus the $100 cancellation fee.
Cancellations made less than 3 days in advance are not guaranteed a refund.
Adjusting your rental dates (without changing the total length of the trip) is free if requested at least 3 days in advance.
Early Return
Vehicles are rented on a daily (24 hour) basis. Any rental of less than 24 hours will be charged a full day’s rate.
No Smoking Policy
All of our vehicles are strictly non-smoking. If any smoke odor, residue, or debris is detected upon return, a substantial cleaning fee will be charged. This fee is based on the time, effort, and resources needed to restore the vehicle to its original condition.
🚫 Please do not smoke anything in the vehicle — ever.

No Pets Policy
To keep our vehicles clean and allergen-free for all guests, we maintain a strict no pets policy.
If any pet hair, odors, stains, or damage are found upon return, a significant cleaning or repair fee will be applied based on the time and resources needed to return the vehicle to its original condition.
🐾 Please do not transport pets in the vehicle — even briefly.
Sunscreen & Excessive Sand
We ask all guests to be mindful when using sunscreen and returning vehicles with excessive sand.
🌴 Sunscreen can cause permanent damage to both the interior and exterior of the vehicle — staining seats, discoloring surfaces, and corroding finishes.
🏖️ Excessive sand tracked into the car requires deep cleaning and can damage upholstery, vents, and moving parts.
If a vehicle is returned with noticeable sunscreen residue or heavy sand, a cleaning fee will be applied based on the time and effort required to restore the vehicle to its original condition.
Please shake off thoroughly and towel off before entering the car — let’s protect the ride, the reef, and your skin!
Responsibility & Liability
As the renter, you are fully responsible for any and all damage, loss, or towing charges involving the rental vehicle — including those affecting yourself, your passengers, your property, the vehicle, and third parties — regardless of who is at fault.
You are also solely responsible for any parking tickets, traffic citations, toll violations, or other charges incurred during your rental period. These will not be covered by Car Rental Big Island and will be charged directly to you.
Please drive safely, follow local laws, and park responsibly. It’s our goal to help you have a smooth, stress-free experience while exploring the island.
